The funding of doctors' and nurses' training is in a mess, according to a report published today by the think tank, the Higher Education Policy Institute (Hepi). Taxpayers are forking out more than £2bn a year for medical students but it is not clear, says the report, where that money is going, and there are extraordinary variations in the amounts received by English medical and dental schools from the public purse.
