Open Call for Papers

This is the fifth international disability studies conference to be held at Lancaster
University. The call for papers is now open and the closing date for submission of
abstracts will be 30th April 2010.

Submissions are particularly welcome from students, activists and first time presenters.

The Lancaster disability studies conferences have brought together researchers,
practitioners, policy makers and activists from around the world, to share and debate
research, ideas and developments in disability studies.

The submission of abstracts is invited for either symposium, paper or poster presentations on current research, ideas and developments in disability studies. In particular the reviewing committee would welcome submissions in the following areas:
* Political change ? global, national and local
* War, conflict and the construction of disability
* Access to health care
* Debates about eugenics and assisted dying
* Independent living, rights and citizenship
* Culture, history and arts
* Theoretical and methodological ideas and debates

The reviewing committee would also welcome abstracts for poster presentations about
the work of organisations, networks and groups which are related to disability studies.

Abstracts can be submitted online at: www.disabilitystudies.net/conference/submitabstract.php
