Internet ranger schools award (BT)

BT Internet Ranger Schools Award: A separate award will be made to a school or a group of schools who encourage young people, up to the age of 16, to use their ICT skills to help other people learn about computers and go online. This is a "forward looking" award scheme to promote future activity rather than the more traditional "backward looking" recognition for work which has already been carried out.

This type of event is a very rewarding for everyone involved:

  • For students, being the teacher can be bring new insights and help build confidence.
  • For learners, an introduction to the internet can open up exciting possibilities; such as new ways to keep in touch with friends and family as well as access to cheaper online products and services.
  • For schools, this type of event is a great example of efforts to build community cohesion.

The winning school or group of schools will receive £4,000. Up to two schools or groups of schools will receive runners up prizes of £2,500.

Key dates: To enter the award, schools have until Monday 1st November 2010 to plan their event and submit their application. The event must take place before the end of the 2010/11 school year. Winners will be notified of their award by Monday 22nd November 2010.
