Introduction

The NTFS are funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland (DELNI), and managed by the Academy on behalf of the sector (http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/ourwork/supportingindividuals/ntfs).  In 2010-11, Wales will join NTFS, with funding provided by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW). Please note that the Project Award scheme is likely to be discontinued from 2010.

Aims

Up to 55 Individual Awards of £10,000 are made annually to recognise and reward individuals who demonstrate excellence in supporting the student learning experience in higher education. They aim to raise the profile of learning and teaching; recognise and celebrate individuals who make an outstanding impact on the student learning experience; and provide a national focus for institutional teaching and learning excellence schemes. Applications are in the form of a signed statement of support from the institution; a claim for the Fellowship (max 5000 words) and a brief CV (max 3 pages). Institutions can nominate up to three candidates per year.

Funds may be used in a wide variety of ways including for personal development in learning and teaching (over and above any existing personal development support), such as:

*  purchasing equipment (non-standard and otherwise) and resources (e.g. laptops, data projectors, PDAs, books, subscriptions to journals)

The entrance to the Pennard Teaching Space is located to the rear of the surgery/chemist complex, near the far end of the building (closest to the School).

The facility is located approximately 6 miles from the main campus, and will take approximately 15 minutes to drive to in light traffic. As it is located next to a School, please allow additional time if traveling at peak times. Naturally when planning to use the facility, it must not impact upon previous or subsequent timetabled teaching sessions. There are very few parking spaces as they must be shared with the GP Practice, Chemist and nearby School.
