Introduction

WIN up to £900 at a 24hr Student App Development Day, 14-15 June,
Newcastle

Elsevier need your help to create new applications to access their text
book content online. They have sponsored the PublishOER 24hr Student App Development Day at a leading hotel in Newcastle on 14th-15th June where you could win a cash prize!

Aims

The event is free to attend and includes overnight accommodation, food and
lots of fun! You will need to bring a portable with your favourite
software set-up with you, and will be asked to sign a consent form.
Winners will be invited to licence their code to Elsevier for up to 5 years.

Activities

<strong>Starting from 11am on 14 June ending at 15:00 on 15 June</strong>. Please ask at reception for the room details on arrival. You may not be able to check into the hotel until after 14:00 but you are welcome to bring overnight bags to the App Dev room.

  • Work with Elsevier tech-heads
  • Meet other students and share knowledge
  • Develop new applications using text book content
  • Program in your language of choice
  • Mashup content and positively disrupt educational app development
  • Work in a team or alone

Proposed outcomes

  • First Prize = £500 (cash)
  • 2 x runner-up prizes of £200 (cash)
