Summary

Innovation in medical, dental and veterinary education.

The Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary is hosting a free national 2 day workshop to showcase latest educational approaches to support the development of 'professionalism' and 'employability'. And it will have a strong eLearning flavour too.

* Assessment
* Resources to support teaching staff (RAFTT) and staff development
* Mobile/wireless devices in education
* Project focus (flexible during the conference)
* Posters (we would welcome your posters but please let us know)

Activities

The conference will run from 11am on 9th, to 16:00 on 10th November 2005. 1.5 hours will overlap with the end of the ACETS end-of-project conference.

Keynote speeches are separated by parallel, themed sessions of up to 1.5 hours each, where the session chair (appointed by the subject centre) decides how each theme will run. It is likely that each themed session will have a mixure of short communications from active participants around the UK, and workshop activities.

Keynotes include the final outcomes of the ACETS project (creating and re-using learning objects in medical education), and opening from Professor Reg Jordan (Director, Subject Centre). Three short keynotes and a final, international speaker will present on day 2.

The chairs of the parallel, themed sessions have kindly given their time to organise and deliver the very best sessions possible.

Proposed outcomes

Participants will have an opportunity for:
* sharing good practice
* networking with others
* contributing to and informing the work of the Subject Centre in the future (identifying needs)
* raised awareness of the outcomes of funded projects, and recently-funded areas which will be reporting in the future
* a little pre-Christmas shopping and a chance to enjoy the fine bars in Edinburgh...
