The Centre for Learning Innovation & Professional Practice is seeking a lecturer to provide leadership, delivery and support for all staff involved in postgraduate learning and teaching programmes and professional practice at Aston University. You will play a lead role in extending and enhancing Aston’s teaching provision across all disciplines to on-campus, part-time, and work-based learners through the application and development of appropriate programmes of study.

 

Experience of motivating and supporting staff and providing leadership is essential, coupled with high level knowledge and experience to support learning and teaching in Higher Education and familiarity with national developments in learning and teaching.

 

A good degree and a postgraduate qualification in Learning and Teaching in HE are essential qualifications.  A track record in active involvement in research and publication in learning and teaching is also required.

The Centre for Learning, Innovation and Professional Practice (CLIPP)

Reporting to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning & Teaching, the Centre for Learning, Innovation and Professional Practice (CLIPP) was established at Aston in September 2008. It aims to build on existing good practice and seek to align staff engaged in similar working in partnership for the benefit of the staff and students of the University whilst raising the internal and external profile of learning and teaching. It provides leadership in technical innovation, pedagogical research and curriculum delivery and assessment as well as resource to enable the Schools to embed their Learning and Teaching Action Plans.

CLIPP is intended to:

  • Provide a critical mass of academic leaders, researchers, technical innovators and professional practitioners to support technical innovation, development and research in learning and teaching.
  • Provide academic leadership for the work based learning and teaching programme for new staff, and establish work-based Masters and Doctorate opportunities and transparent career paths to readerships and professorships in learning and teaching.
  • Focus learning and teaching innovation and research towards pedagogical publications and externally published outcomes.
  • Generate income to support the development of innovation, pedagogical research and scholarship in learning and teaching.
  • Raise the national profile of the excellence of learning and teaching at Aston.
