Universities and colleges in Wales get go-ahead to charge higher fees

Thirteen universities and colleges in Wales have had their fee plans approved by HEFCW,
and can now increase tuition fee levels for undergraduate courses from the 2012
academic year.
The institutions - 10 universities and three further education colleges – are now able to
charge students on full-time undergraduate courses fees above the £4,000 basic rate
ranging up to £9,000 a year.
The overall fees levels, until now regarded as proposals, start at £3,850 for some HND
courses, and range from £5,850 to £9,000 for full-time undergraduate degree courses, and PGCE courses, with the average fee level for all at around £8,800.
All institutions were required to take careful account of the views of their students in
finalising their plan.
