Behavioural dissemination model

Survey responses reporting dissemination to colleagues

Of the total 134 survey respondents, 36% indicated that they had disseminated to colleagues about good practice related to open content sharing. Of these 47 individuals who disseminated, 30 (64%) were from the PORSCHE event attendees group. Survey respondents were asked to indicate the number of colleagues that they disseminated to, although not all respondents provided quantitative data.

PORSCHE disseminated in person to 512 event attendees. From our survey data, 184 (36%) of these would be predicted to proceed to disseminate post event to colleagues based on our model. Each individual disseminator (‘generation 1’) would be predicted to transmit information on good practice to an average of 18 colleagues (minimum 1, maximum 150), this would represent an extrapolated figure of 3312 people in ‘generation 2’. Data to date on the transmission rate in subsequent generations, or the quantity or quality of information passed on, is not available.

The quantitative information available on behavioural dissemination from survey respondents was illustrated visually below. Grey box on figures shows visualisation key. PORSCHE events are represented as circles with blue squares indicating event attendees (in generation 1) who responded to our survey request and answered that they did disseminate. These post event ‘disseminators’ are shown as blue squares. Black bars are scaled for the number of new individuals that were disseminated to by the original event attendee. A question mark indicates that non quantitative data was supplied by respondent.
