FAQ - What is the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and MEDEV?

Answer

The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is an independent organisation in the United Kingdom that supports Higher Education institutions with strategies for the development of research and evaluation to improve the learning experience for students.  The HEA was formed in 2004 after the merger of the Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ILTHE), the Learning and Teaching Support Network (LTSN) and the TQEF National Co-ordination Team (NCT).

MEDEV is one of the 24 Subject Centres run by the HEA, we cover Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine.  We are located primarily at Newcastle University with partners at the University of Edinburgh and Royal College of Physicians.  The MEDEV website is the main channel of communication, although we also have a mailing list medev@jiscmail.ac.uk
