We have established a network of high level 'nominated primary contacts' in all the constituency programmes and completed a series of telephone interviews. We have now completed an assessment of needs in order to define the 'core business' of the subject centre and to identify the 'pro-active' research and development agenda. This is currently in consultation and is available on our website in the about section. This analysis will influence our strategic aims and objectives, and modify our outcomes and targets in order to meet the needs of the constituency (these are being drafted July 2001).
We are cataloging information for our databases, such as educational events, funding opportunities, examples of best practice, etc. We have over 300 virtual learning environments, case studies and examples of good practices and technologies and in our VLE databases which we have made available over the web.
We are co-ordinating some responses to funding opportunities (such as PPP Medical Healthcare Trust), FDTL4, TLRP, JISC, and we have funded about 20 mini-projects (ranging from 500-5,000 pounds). We are attending what seems to be a great many events (our diary will be publicly available shortly) either to disseminate information about the LTSN-01 or to learn from our constituencies.
The LTSN-01 is also working with existing people-networks such as staff developers to facilitate the sharing of good practice, provide access to learning resources, advice on curriculum issues and a one-stop-shop to help the sector in any way that we can. We hope to have a programme of staff development workshops set up for the beginning of 2003.
