There is increasing interest in the use of podcasts in education. Often the approach is driven by technology instead of learning theory. This workshop will emphasise the educational principles of using podcasts to enhance student learning

Proposed outcomes

Dr John Sandars, Senior lecturer and academic lead for e-learning, Medical Education Unit,
University of Leeds
Dr Deborah A White, Director of Learning & Teaching, Head of Dental Public Health / Hon Consultant School of Dentistry, University of Birmingham
Nick Short, Head of the Electronic Media Unit, Royal Veterinary College
All of the speakers have a particular interest in the educational use of podcasts, John has developed an evidence base for the use of podcasts in medical education, Deborah has extensive experience in the production and implementation of podcasts in dental education and Nick has extensive experience in student developed podcasts.
Target audience
Anyone interested in developing podcasts to enhance the student learning experience. Please note that the focus will be not be technical and will not include hands on training in editing.
